About Browlifts - Laguna Niguel, Orange County, California
Lifting the brow can provide some of the most dramatic appearance changes.
A browlift opens the eyes, tightens the skin of the eyelids and raises the brows to a position that restores the look of energy and wellness.
Occasionally referred to as a forehead lift, a browlift repositions the muscles to lift and tighten the area above and including the brow.

The endoscopic approach is the least invasive and the most recent technique. The procedure is performed with the use of an endoscope (a small light and camera attached to a very small cable that is connected to a video monitor). This allows Dr. Sikorski to directly see the muscles and tissues beneath the skin that need to be modified and lifted.
Endoscopic brow positioning is much preferred over older open scalp surgeries. With the endoscope, only a few very small incisions need to be made and these incisions are behind the hairline. No one will see that you have had surgery because any small scars will be hidden by your hair. Dr. Sikorski prefers endoscopic surgery for a number of reasons - Less healing time, less risk of hair loss, less post-surgical numbness and less risk of infection.
Candidate for browlifts may have one or more of the following:
An Endoscopic Browlift can provide a younger, friendlier and more refreshed appearance to the area above the eyes. This technique provides smoother forehead skin and a more animated appearance.
The endoscope allows a direct view of the tissues and muscles beneath the skin. In this type of surgery, about four or five small incisions are made instead of one long incision. Each of the smaller incisions is only up to 1 to 1 ½ cm’s long. Dr. Sikorski inserts the endoscope through one of the incisions. The other incisions are used to insert specialized instruments to remove unwanted tissue and to reshape the muscles in the area. Dr. Sikorski places hemaseal also called “tissel” a special skin glue under the skin to seal blood vessels and seal the brow in position, the skin to reposition or lift the eyebrows. In addition, fixation screws are may be placed behind the hairline to hold the position of the brow in place for one to two weeks. These two tiny titanium fixation screws are removed painlessly at the one week or two week post-op visit.

After the procedure is over, Dr. Sikorski closes the incisions with tiny sutures. The procedure is usually done while you are asleep under iv sedation or general anesthesia.
A browlift will help make the eyes appear more open and often is the only upper face surgery needed, but some patients will need additional surgery for lifting and opening the eyes. Eyelid surgery can easily be performed at the same time as a forehead lift if you have significant skin overhang in the upper eyelids. Sometimes, patients who believe they need upper-eyelid surgery find that a forehead lift better meets their surgical goals.
Dr. Sikorski will examine your facial muscle structure and recommend the correct procedure. If only one procedure is needed to accomplish the goal, you can rest assured you will understand why. Since Dr. Sikorski’s main goal is to provide her patients with a natural look, she will always be sure to advise you on the most reasonable approach to prevent an “over done” result.
You may expect about 7 days of swelling or bruising in the lower forehead/eyelid area. Some patients recover more rapidly, some may take a few days longer. You will receive full pre-op and post op directions that will help you heal quickly and completely.
A forehead lift is most commonly performed on men and women in the 35-70 age range to minimize the visible effects of aging. However, it can also help people of any age who have developed furrows or frown lines due to stress or muscle activity. Individuals with inherited conditions, such as a low, heavy brow or furrowed lines above the nose can achieve a more alert and refreshed look with this procedure. Age is not a barrier to cosmetic surgery.
Patients who are bald, who have a receding hairline or who have had previous upper-eyelid surgery may still be good candidates for forehead lift. Dr. Sikorski will simply alter the incision location or perform a more conservative operation.
